Step by step guide on how to customise manual popup notifications [Text &VIDEO]
Lets get started with creating notifications.The steps are pretty much the same for creating manual notifications for all the 24 widgets.
- First select the campaign in your dashboard under which you want to create notifications.
- Now scroll down select any notification available in your subscription plan by selecting it.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click create.
- Now follow the instructions below the input fields under the different tabs of the notifications.
- Click update at the bottom of the page after making any changes on any tabs of the notifications.
- Most of all dont forget to turn the toggle ON for the notification.
Detailed Steps: for creating manual notifications: For this illustration i am choosing the latest conversions popup notification. Here is a quick step by step video to get you started.
Settings > Basic
- Give the notification an easy name to remember for future edits.
- Define a title for the notification in a language of your choice. (Ex: Jane from Austin, TX instead of the default "Someone from England")
- Define a description for the notification (Ex: "Purchased L'oreal face cream", "Registered for SEO Webinar" "Signed up for online digital marketing course" etc
- Image URL: you can customise the image and be more creative by adding images icons from a free library
- Once you decide on a suitable icon, click the embed option and click copy then you will get a long url which looks
something like this <img src="https://img.icons8.com/metro/50/000000/search.png"/> Just select the image url within the quotes highlighted in yellow and insert it in the image url input box. - Notification Url is the url you want the user to go after clicking on it, dont forget to turn the toggle switch "ON"
- Define how many of this notification you want to show and the time interval in seconds between each notification.
- Click Update every time you make any changes.
Settings > Triggers
The default setting for Triggers is to show the notification on all pages and hence the toggle switch is "ON"
- You can turn the toggle OFF and customise as many triggers as you like. But make sure you understand the IF and THEN conditions
properly so as to display the notification as per your choice. - Next you can choose the Display trigger when to show the notifications. Delay with a pre defined time in seconds, On exit, when the
visitor is leaving the page or after he scrolls down say 50% of the page. - Display frequency, you can choose how often you want to show this notification to the visitor. Display on mobile and desktop
- Click Update every time you make changes for the same to take effect immediately.
Settings > Display
Here you can define how long you want the notification to display in seconds. You can choose the location on your page where you would like
them to appear. you could add a close button and choose not to display branding. Click Update.
Settings > Customize
Here you can customize the colours of text of the title, description. Choose a background colour or pattern for the popup. You can even
customize the entry and exit animations for the popup. Dont be afraid to be creative as variations can greatlyenhance the appeal of the popups. Most of all Click update to save all changes.
Settings > Data
This section is only applicable if you want to customise to show real time popup notifications based on data captured on your website or online store. Or you want to send data captured on WebsitesToolz widgets to third party applications using webhooks or a service like Zapier.
